Damn GS

Took the car to marco muffler cause it was rattling during cold mornings and i thought they could check it out. nothing wrong with the exhaust but thats a diff story. while the car was on the lift i asked if they could revv it a few times. As the guy revved the car the all familiar "ticking" came back. i had always thought it was just lifter tick and didnt think much of it. Turns out that ticking is coming from the bottom end. doesnt happen all the time, but most of the time. ticking accelerates with RPM. car burned 2 quarts of oil in roughly 3000 miles. any suggestions?

Re: Damn GS

did you do that test I told you about? pulling each spark plug wire one at a time and seeing if the sound changes?

Re: Damn GS

ok sorry I remember posting this in another thread, I thought it was you

simply put, when the engine is warm and idling fine, you should still hear the ticking right? Unplug one spark plug and listen, yes you're engine will you like shit, but listen for the taping. If it changes tone drastically or even disappears then it's a major problem with that cylinder (spun bearing usually)

Do this one at a time, just make sure to put the plugs back all the way in, first time I did it I left it halfway out Hehe, needless to say it wasn't happy under boost.

Re: Damn GS

if u can only hear the ticking when u rev, then it could be bad rod mains.
