ECT vs temp sending unit

What is the difference between the ECT and the temperature sending uint that drives the temp gauge? Or are they one in the same?

Thanks

Re: ECT vs temp sending unit

ECT is the sensor that sends signal to the computer. The temp sending unit sends signal to the gauge. Two different animals.
