Very strange happenings

with the girl friends 96 S10. five months ago the start function of the ignition switch took a dump. She needs the truck for work so I hooked up a simple start button as a temp. Last month I bought a new switch and since the button was working fine I would do the job in the spring. So the other day my Frans daughter got in the truck turned the key and it started as it did before?? So I guess after a few months rest it healed it's self.

I wouldn't hold my breath on htat.

Ignition switches are weird that way. 1 day it works the next day your stranded. 10 min later it might work again.
I believe that it's usually dirt on the contacts that stops them from working but I've never taken them apart to find out.

97 has an airbag, please please please handle the wheel like it is a loaded 12 guage at your face, because it is, disconnect the battery, pull the sir (stands for supplemental inflatable restraint, the air bags) fuse and walk away for a half an hour, minimum, get the puller you need, 4 screws in the back get the bag out, and dissasemble as you see needed, be careful and pay attention, a new tumbler (what she needs) from gm is like 30 bucks, bring the vin number, and you should be able to get one that has your door lock on it
