Just wondering what everyones thoughts are about that POS Honda being named "Truck Of The Year" by Motor Trend. I think that it was a bad decision on Motor Trends part. This is kind of like calling the Chevy Aveo the car of the year.

Re: Truck Of The Year "Not"
Uhhhh... I don't even consider that a truck, so I dunno wtf they are talking about. Didn't they lump the avalanche in with the SUV's?

Re: Truck Of The Year "Not"
Basically, if the truck is not made by one of the big 3 (GM, Ford, or Dodge), it is not a truck, IMO (but the ridgeline doesn't even resemble one. That is my opinion, you can agree or not, but that is how I feel.

Re: Truck Of The Year "Not"
motor trend, car and driver, and all those other magazines that people read for some reason ALWAYS favor forgien junk! I HATE reading those anymore, they always put down our american made products, if only some of they're familys we're effected by american car sales. Our cars are just as good if not better those piles of shit that profits those idiots over in japan!

Re: Truck Of The Year "Not"
I saw the report from car and driver about why they chose it as the best truck. They tried to take it off road, and you can see on the video they broke something. They said it had the smallest bed and I think the lowest payload. But it had a smooth ride and "innovative features" like a tailgate that opened from the side.
To me, it sounds like they are calling it truck of the year for features that are not important for a truck. By the way, I have seen in an earlier report the two biggest complaints car and driver has with the silverado are no tailgate lock and Swiss army style blinker, windshield wiper, and cruise control lever. |

Re: Truck Of The Year "Not"
if its a truck, who friggin cares about amenities... nobody actually USES their truck for anything anymore, i hardly ever see a pickup actually hauling anything lol. they are all complaining that the leather doesnt match the turn signal lever and whatnot... go buy a friggin compact, its the same thing for what you need lol... i figure why suffer in mileage for no reason other than to be up high, then again im a hypocrite since i dont really use my truck for hauling, i dont bitch about not having a/c though lol, i treat it like it is meant for... not being pretty lol

How many Honda or Toyotas have you owned? Purchased new? Driven for 200,000 miles? The POS sitting in my driveway has an American brand name on it. Yes my 6 year old Suburban has been pampered but still it has broken down average every 5,000 miles since new. It has only 77,000 miles on it. It has had two water pumps so far. Intake manifold leaked twice so far. Original Delco battery ruptured acid everywhere after 20K for no reason. Had it aligned 5 times before it drove straight. Fuel pump just died at 77K. AC suction port valve (a $2 part) failed and cost $800 to fix. AC compressor is now leaking oil. Should I go on? My father insisted on buying american. His Celebrity head gaskets blew out at 40K. The tailight assembly literally fell out driving down the freeway. His alternator was replaced - twice. His water pump failed. The power steering rack failed. The headliner came down on him while he was driving and almost caused an accident. We sold that POS for $500 with only 65K on it. I felt guilty for charging so much. My mom's Cavalier was shot after 50K. Little old lady car. Surprising it didn't kill her. I owned a Pinto back in high school. Remember those? Exploding Pinto's because the filler tube was so poorly designed that any rear end collision to the left rear would rupture it and led to several deaths. That car lasted me a good 65K. The Honda Accord that replaced it I drove for 130K before I just got tired of it. It brought me $1800. My brother in law bought a used Accord and drove it till the odometer read 210K mostly trouble free miles. Not perfect, just far more reliable. The Japs beat us so far because they have to. I buy best of breed. In order to survive, the Japs HAD to put in better seals, better rubber hoses, closer tolerances, tighter specs ya da ya. The American companies have exploited the brainwashed but its starting to fall apart on them. They buy the lowest bid. I wish it weren't so. You think I want to see us loose another industry to a foreign competitor? I hate the fact that the unions have managed to strangle our domestic companies to death. Same thing happened in the UK. How many car companies do they have left? Now its happening in Germany. Their is a growing consensus that the German's have big quality problems. If I can't lower my labor cost because of the damned Union idiots, I have to buy cheaper parts. BTW, Chrysler is a German company.... Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, it may be my kid who pays when that Union-built POS dies at 55mph in rush hour traffic. Supporting our domestic manufacturer's inferior quality only keeps them status quo. |

Re: Truck Of The Year "Not"
Yeah, not to mention my dad had an 84 silverado that he got ~750,00 miles out of it before the engine died. No internal work had ever been done to engine/heads

Re: Honda does not build a truck
blender wizard, we are on the page . i' m too lazy too type (i'm not good at it)
let me restate this toyoya is the only name plate that is not u.s. that builds a truck. the tundra is only produced in indana. that still speaks volumes about the big 3 and there handle on the domestic truck market. |
