automatic headlights

I just started having a problem with my automatic headlights not coming on when I turn on the key. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this? I have to use the stalk on the steering column to turn the lights on and off. Thanks for any help.

My guess is that this sensor is faulty. It is located on the top of the dash (small hole).

Check you emergency brake. Maybe its slightly depressed enough to keep the lights from coming on but not the brake light indicator on the dash to warn you. Just a thought. Probably not the problem because that would be to easy but you never know.

The emergency brake is not sticking, so I know that is not the problem. I am not sure how much trouble the sensor on the dash would be to change. Can anyone tell me about this and how much the sensor might cost? Thanks.

I think that the automatic lights are annoying sometimes, being that the only way to shut them off is to shut the car off, set your p brake and turn it back on so you can idle with the lights off, i wish my sensor would stop working

I found the problem with my headlights. The fuse, behind the passenger side dash panel end cap, was blown. If you want to eliminate your lights being on all the time when dark and would like to turn them on and off manually, just take your fuse out. It didn't seem to bother anything else on my car.
