Re: scanning for knock...
You'll need a scanner capable of detecting and providing a readout of knock retard (KR) in degrees. I have the AeroForce Tech scanner gauge and also, Autotap for Windows with GM extended codes running on a laptop. Autotap will allow you to display a virtual gauge on the LCD display for KR.

Re: scanning for knock...
I just installed an Aeroforce Interceptor on my '05. I was surprized to see that I have up to 6 degrees of kr at redline & wot. Does that sound normal to you?

Re: scanning for knock...
I've only put an slp catback, k&n cai and 180 degree thermostat on it. I thought opening up the intake and exhaust was supposed to reduce kr. Also, I use 93 octane gas.

BTW - What KR are you getting at cruising speeds and moderate acceleration?

Re: scanning for knock...
Yeah, I haven't done anything else. I'm wondering if going 1 or 2 degrees colder on my plugs would take care of this. It just seems strange to me that I have 6 degrees of kr, and with all of your mods, you only have around one. At cruising and light acceleration there is no kr.

Try going with the next colder plugs first and then monitor readings. I recommend the Autolite copper core. 605 one colder, 104 two and 103 is 3 colder. Works in 04/05s too. I thought the 04/05s had a 75mm TB stock which should help. ![]() Good luck!
