Water Injection

I have a 98 GTP with 3.4" pulley, exhaust, intake, 180 thermostat. I'm really looking into water injection but dont plan on changing to a smaller pulley. How much horsepower could i expect to gain without changing anything else. I've heard that under constant use it can wear down rotors on the S/C. Does it give you a big enough spike in HP that it would be practical to use it only during races like you would nitrous? I know a few people on here have installed it but I really haven't seen them comment on it.

Re: Water Injection

Water injection works by reducing knock retard caused by high cylinder temps. If you have a scan tool and aren't getting knock retard, then water injection is a waste of time and money

Re: Water Injection

Why do you believe you need water injection running only a 3.4 SC pulley.

I agree with Rich unless you are getting KR or have very poor quality gas in you area it's worthless. If your engine is tuned right with proper mods you do not need WI.

If you decide to install WI it will not give you any boost in power equivalent to nitrous. Excessive use of water is a good way to ruin your supercharger and engine.

I only know of one guy on the forum that is or was using WI. Ripn12s. Maybe he can weigh in. If I thought it was worthwhile I would have installed it a long time ago and I run a 3.25 SC pulley with little or no KR.

Re: Water Injection

i also have a alki/water injection on my car.. but like they say its only good to get rid of KR and will not add hp, only timing due to less KR. i used it with my 1.9 rockers and a 3.2 pulley.. less than 1* KR.. looking to sell it in lieu of a stg 3 IC
