I cannot start my escort. When I turn the ignition nothing happens it's dead.
I tried the typical alternator test by turning everything on to see if the lights would dim on the dashboard but nothing happened. I then tried to turn it on again because I forgot the wipers and it was dead. I had someone boost me and it started up fine. Is it the battery/starter/alternator????? And how do I fix it???? |

when you jumped it, did the car continue to run? or did it die?

Re: escort won't start help!!!!
My guess it's the battery. Check the connections to make sure you have a clean terminals. you may want to take the battery to an auto parts store and have them check it out. It's usually free. It may just be on it's way out. I would rule out the starter if it starts on it's own.
If the battery is good, it could be one of the many grounds gone bad.

Re: escort won't start help!!!!
The battery sounds like it's bad. Is it winter where you live? Mine did that. I had an el cheapo economy series. It was fine in the summer, but the day it got cold, my car was totally dead, no voltage at all. As soon as I stuck a charger on it for 30 minutes, and warmed the battery inside, the car ran fine.
