Re: need walktrough for replacing trans accord 90

Here is a simple version. You need to get the front end of the car of the ground and the best way is to put it on blocks. Make sure the wheels are able to move freely up and down, etc. and that the blocks don't interfere with the area around the transmission. You also want to be able to put a chain in the area of the transmission and have an overhead beam in the garage that is able to support about two hundred pounds. You will need a come-along to enable you to support the transmission side of the engine because you will need to take the weight of that motor mount the tranny is connected to.

Remove the tires, take the trans axles out, there are steps in this that must be done such as removing the break caliper and taking of the castle nut on the ball joint and getting the ball joint apart. Breaker bar works good, a big one.

Once the trans axles are out, drain the tranny. Disconnect the linkage to the tranny. Now disconnect the battery terminal. The starter needs to be taken out as it is located on the tranny. Get the chain and come-along in place and take a little weight off the motor mount. Get the motor mount apart and then disconnect any ground wires and electrical from the tranny. You need to remove the clutch line from the tranny and now start removing the bolts holding the tranny to the engine. Once all of them are out you need to use a pry bar to get the two apart. The tranny is not too heavy but a floor jack under though cumbersome will help you get the tranny on the floor.

I was assuming that the tranny is a manual so I trust you will be replacing the clutch and throughout bearing. If the slave is internal, repair or replace it as well.
