Re: Toyota Camrys to race in 2007

i like the competition, besides if theres one thing american companies know how to make its a pushrod v8 (heh right now they are all a ford design). toyota has little experience in it, but they do a great job on factory backed racing. dont worry though the american companies wont get slaughtered. thats such a bad misconception. they make so much money off nascar its rediculous, they wont slouch. chances are toyota is gonna copy the same engine design everyone else is using, maybe with a tweak here and there.

I heard on speed news, Honda is coming 2008 and Nissan trucks 07 or 08. They need to bring BMW and Mercedes.

Re: Toyota Camrys to race in 2007

the engines aren't really a "Ford design", all the blocks are custom built.

Toyota will build the engines just as any other NASCAR engine builder would, from scratch. Hell, there's a good chance they'll hire an established company to build their engines for them, that is if they decide to supply their teams with engines (Ford, Chevy, and Dodge don't).

Mercedes does back a team, I forgot, it's called DODGE!

Honda doesn't have a pick-up truck, they got something they might think is a pick-up. First they need to make a real pick-up then worry about Craftsman Truck.

Re: Toyota Camrys to race in 2007

well, according to a NASCAR.com poll, 46% of the people voted said "they do not like Toyota's decision to race Nextel Cup." Competition is what fuels the world. If it wasn't for competition, the automotive industry would be dull. The racing industry is a seperate entity of the automotive industry, but it still an off-shoot and has many similarities. If the Japs come in and compete with the Big 3, that's a huge marketing pit for them and will increase sales for them, since most people are brand-loyal.

Wow what a racists and stupid statement. Why would quit watching? do you watch any other form of racing Le mans,Speed world challenge when teams from countries start competing the better the competition cause then not only does bran loyalty matter so does nationality.

His comments weren't racist, he never mentioned anything about race. The competition isn't going to be any better when Toyota joins, the cars are equal as it is, and it's not like Toyota is going to have some advantage, they can only do so much to the cars, Nascar has basically put them in a box, which I think is a good thing. I will say that Toyota is doing it right, but no matter how much money they throw at the program they can't work outside of the box.
