Great pic.
I've only ever had one go at trying that look in the pic......the car is now somewhere at the town landfill

I've read how they do it and it's really very intresting how it's all done

Looks superb, but not my style!!!

I can appreciate these guys who are into all this ageing and stuff!
Even these scenees they make can add so much to a model!
But I usually make a model because I can't afford the real car! A Volkswagen Type 2 I could buy tomorrow!!!

It's just that considering the attention to detail it is, IMO, a true work of art. It's not really my style either...

Yep, I would go along with that! It is something I could look at for ages too!

I learned a lot about "weathering" when I was interested in model railroading. (no good for primera man, eh? ) I learned a lot about it, and the basics have stayed with me, though I don't use them often.

As for weathering car models, you can have a spectacular race car if you build it as the car looks at the end of its races! Every once and a while I see one done really well. The last one I remember was a Porsche, GT3 I think, that had road grime and tire globs all over the front, and really horrible-looking exhaust stains/burns around the engine compartment. Now that's realism! :sun:

And by the way, think of how hard it is to make those panels on the bus fit wrong! Yipes!

One of the best i have seen done was a rally car (wrx) that had been done with all the mud etc and a smashed window and dents in places. The weathering was great on it.
Was displayed on a trailer being towed by another road WRX.
Should have got a pic or 2

I had an idea for a set sort of like that. I was thinking of having a Legacy wagon towing a rally-preped WRX on a trailer (that I guess I'd have to scratchbuild). I thought of having it going to the races, so both cars would be clean, but maybe I should make it coming home from the race.... hmmm....

The best thing to do is let me know which cars you want, as the latest stuff is on digi and at a mates house. We have an understanding, I shoot the video, he shoots the stills!!!

The last stuff I photographed myself was the '92 Lombard Rally.

Here are a few samples...
They are pre digi and so I had to scan them!!!

The Nissan is the sort of battle scarred stuff you are after!!!

Well, I found someone who weathered his '98 Impreza WRX Safari, but the pictures are skewed a bit: Built By "hrmodeler".
