Angry Spec-V Paint

Is it just me, or is the paint on the spec-v horrible?
I run my hand across and it isn't smooth at all... It's like they painted over dust. Is anyone else's like that??

have you tried giving your car a good wax job? or are you talking about the surface is silky, but the paint actually has bumps in it?

No you are right... the paint sucks. if you look at the quarter panel just foward of the lights you will notice this little bumps or indentations. It kinda scatters the light so your reflection will be broken. The roughness i am reffering to is called orange peal. You usually get that on aftermarket paint. But noramally new cars don't have it. I am unhappy with the paint but there is nothing you can do about it. If you take it to the deal they are just going to say that it is normal because it came from the factory like that.

If your car is under a month old, you should be able to have it clear coated and get a warranty on the clear coat. Some clear coats offer up to 7 years (permaplate), even if you never bothered to wash or wax.
Someone hit the front of my car, I had to wet sand with thousand grit paper and spray clear over the entire bumper. I matched the paint perfectly, but there is no orange peel on the bumper now, if you really look you can see that it looks better than the rest of the car. I also used two coats of a high grade clear, cannot chip as easily as the factory paint, important on a surface like the front bumper and hood.

Sometimes you really have to complain, and if you can prove that it was messed up from the factory, than they will redo it, plain and simple. Best way is to complain before you buy it. As far as orange peel goes, wetsand it with no less than 1000 grit, I recommend 2500 grit, especially for a beginner, than, buff it out with a machine buffer, or even by hand. I guarantee that it will get rid of the orange peel, BUT BE WARNED, Nissan put the paint on REALLY t h i n, and I do mean thin, but that is the paint and not the clear coat. make sure that you do not sand all of the clear coat off, and use plenty of running watere when wetsanding, and you can end up with a mirror paint job.
