Tracker rear door

I have a 1995 Tracker and the rear door has been used so seldom that now its stuck closed. The key will turn the lock open and closed, but when I try to open using the latch, the door won't open.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking I'll have to go through the inside, take the rear door panel off, and then fiddle with the lock assembly. Anyone have any better ideas or is that the way to go?

Re: Tracker rear door

That's the way to do it. The buttons that hold the rear panel in place are 2 part expanding plugs. Use the tip of you pocket knife, or small srew driver to pull the center section outward. Once popped the button should slip right out and you'll have free access to the inside of the tailgate.

I had the same problem but it was the hardtop door at the back. it had bound the bottom door down behind the bumper. Lifted up on the door and placed my knee on the bumper and it opend right up
