My steering wheel goes freely from top position to bottom position. It won't lock in in any position. I wouldn't care, except it makes for some very weird driving around curves. It also gets tiring holding the wheel in a drivable position.
Obviously, there is some sort of pawl failure. Does anyone have experience with this, and how difficult is it to fix? |

Re: 1993 tilt steering broken
dpends on what it broke. Might have to replace something simple or the entire collum. if it is just a beater then you can bolt it were you want it

Well, I pulled the wheel off and removed the tilt/switches housing.I found the problem right away! The pin that the tilt mechanism engages had backed all the way out. I pushed it back in and it works like new! Should be good for another 151,000 miles. |
