SS/SC Vs. 1.8t

This one happened earlier today and was against an unknown year Jetta 1.8t.

I had just turned off the highway and was going over the overpass when I noticed a very white Jetta about 50 yards behind. I payed no attention at first because I figured it was a base model driven by one of the local college girls in that area. Well, I was wrong. As it zipped by my passengers side doing about 15 mph faster than I was, I received the blowoff salute. Turns out it was a late teens early 20's dude with a modded 1.8t. One thing I did find a bit strange was that the "Jetta" logo had been removed, along with the "1.8t" logo and in place of the 1.8t badge was 3 bars that looked very much like M/// bars. But I think they were different colors than an M/// badge.

Anyway, we come to a red light and he changes lanes so that he's on my driver side instead of the passenger side. There was no eye contact or any rev exchanging of any kind, so I figured he wasn't down for a run and I just chilled there waiting for the light. When it turned green I took of a little spirited as I usually do anyway, but he took off much quicker than I had and was a good two lengths ahead of me. I had just made the change to second gear when I bearly managed to hear him get on it over my loud music. Even though he hadn't given me the honor of a fair lineup and I was still a good two lengths behind, I followed suit and mashed it. I made up a car length of distance so quickly that for a moment I thought that he wasn't really going all out, so I short shifted into 3rd at around 5500 rpms and backed the throttle off to about 75%, but to my surprise he quickly gained back a half car length again so I knew he was still on. Now I had a problem though, I had just put myself in a bad spot in my powerband and it took another 4 seconds or so to start gaining good ground again. Once I did start to pull, it wasn't near as hard as I had in 2nd gear, but I was still making pretty good ground. At about 5,800 rpm I flipped the gearbox into 4th and right as passed him I glanced over at him and he looked shocked, then I put a length or so on him for good measure.

Once I had established myself as the victor of our race I jammed the brakes hard enough to send the front end into a steep dive, but again he surprised me by not flying passed me. Instead he managed to stay at my rear bumper and never came up next to me for a thumbs up or anything of that nature. Poor sport I suppose

Well, that's all the fun I've had in the last month or so because I've been trying to take it easy on the gas and my car, but mostly cause my car has been down for a couple weeks.

either it was an Bora edition or a GLI but aside from that the bars might be from a S4. check into it man

Re: SS/SC Vs. 1.8t

S models have three bars, but only in two colors, and only on the B5. On the B6, they have just a red bar. Also, The Jetta ass doesn't look a whole lot like an S4 ass. Besides the logo (Bulldog said only the 1.8T and Jetta badge had been removed, not the VW logo), the trunk and rear bumper are different. the S4 is also longer and a bit lower.

Jetta ass end:

B5 S4 Ass:

B6 Audi S4 Ass:

Regardless, great job Bulldog, nice kill.

Re: SS/SC Vs. 1.8t

I've seen alot of Jettas/GTIs with little badges that look like the "S" badge from Audi. Its kinda like BMW guys that put "M" badges on non M models.

BTW. HOW DID CASSIESMAN WIN BEST 6-CYLINDER!

Yup, I am 100% positive it was a VW. Could have been a special model of some sort, or more likely was incorrectly badged.

Re: SS/SC Vs. 1.8t

I think there are also a few tuner companies for the VAG that use badges similar to the S style badge.

True, but neither does Igor, and he won best F/I. Im just kidding though, at least the award is in the hands of a BMW owner.
