question about diagnostics computer
I've recently bought (from yet another auction) a Snap-On MT3000A Counselor II Digital Oscilloscope for 250 dollars and I was wondering what the hell kind of computer this is and what all can it do. I still havn't hooked it up and I was wondering if I got jipped or whatnot. And BTW I don't own a shop but I am trying to come up in the automotive world so I was wondering if this is adecent computer or is it just some low-grade bullshit that I need to attempt to sell on e-bay and hope to make my money back on.
And I'd appreciate any help or any info on this computer! And BTW I have not googled this computer system yet but that's what I'm gonna do after I leave here.

Re: question about diagnostics computer
I haven't used one before, but I believe that it will give you raw data when hooked to any sensor or signal producing item, even ignition wires. It is for the advanced user, IE: Master Technician, who regularly diagnoses electrical problems on vehicles. I will do a bit of research today and tomorrow, including asking a Snap-On dealer about it. I'll get back to this thread by tomoroww night.

Re: question about diagnostics computer
I'd appreciate it if you could do that for me, like I said I couldn't find out anything about it on google except pictures and whatnot.

Re: question about diagnostics computer
Check out this Snapon page:
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/parts...group_id=15710 I looked at a picture of it, and it is an older style of Meter, inthat it is large, and on a cart. BUT, if the unit that you have works, then you got an awesome deal. This is a Raw Data only Meter, and you must know how to read the readings. From my point of view, an L1 Master Tech, it is a VERY useful tool that will tell you anything about anything you test, except computer codes. One note about computer testing, it Must and I mean MUST have a 10Kohm internal resistance at a minimum to test computer circuits. Good luck with it, I couldn't find an owner's manual for it online, you have to contact Snapon for that. |

Re: question about diagnostics computer
The Snap-On MT3000A Counselor II Digital Oscilloscope is just that..an oscilloscope.
You can read waveforms on it. I use one in my shop..wish I paid 250 for it.... I use it mainly for seconday ignition diagnosis..you can purchase adapters and pick ups for many ignition systems. Plus the 12v feature means you don't need 120 ac nearby
