99 Blazer front hub and bearing.

Hi, I am pretty sure (not 100%) that my r/f wheel bearing is shot.
Anyone know where I can see a breakdown of the hub setup? Or maybe some instructions. I work at a dealer in the parts department and I'll probably put it on the lift and take a look. I am wondering if I should tackle this myself or get someone else to do it.
Thanks.

Re: 99 Blazer front hub and bearing.

Ask them how much they'll charge you first.
Being an employee they might cut you a deal that you just can't refuse.

You can do the job yourself, but you'll probably be cursing a 1/2 day away while doing it.

You are working at the best place in the world to get it or the info on it.
Look at the parts break down books.
Or slip out in the shop and have them print you out some stuff on it.
Have them give you of them employee deals.

Re: 99 Blazer front hub and bearing.

I got my left front done a couple of years ago. It was $209. The part was $170. If you get a deal it would be worth it. I tried to do mine but my rotor was so rusted I couldn't get it off. Apart from that it didn't seem too hard. If I had to do it again I would take it to the shop for another $40.

Sorry...I should have been more specific...it's not a Chevy dealer that I work at. I am sure they could figure it out better than I can though.

Travis...they only charged you $40 to install it? That seems like a bargain to me.

Your dealers mechanics will be comunicating with Chevy mechanics, and find out from them how to do the job.

Some mechanics even come on here when they're stumped.

Re: 99 Blazer front hub and bearing.

I generally like to do my own work. Maybe a man thing or maybe I just like the time away from my wife! I took it to Pep Boys and they said $209 and I jumped all over it. The best part is I took it at 4:30 and they called about 8:30 and said that it was done. I figured I wouldn't get it till the next day.

Re: 99 Blazer front hub and bearing.

I'd gladly pay $209 installed.
