Motor getting wet ???

Well i currently picked up a 98 civic sedan lx..

This car has been sitting for qutie a while well since 2003 in a garage..

The guy sold it to a junkyard and its been sitting at the junkyard for about 2 weeks or lil longer with hood off...But there is a stock oem intake on it and all and the car starts up and runs..Battery is completely dead...Did seem to stall out 1 time not sure if its cause battery was completely shot or what..

Should i look for any problems cause it has been raining in these 2+ weeks and there wasnt a hood on the car...

Any electrical probs or anything like that..

Just wondering in case the car does keep dying out and whatnot...possibally distributor or anything being damaged..

Just wondering thx for any help...later

Re: Motor getting wet ???

The distributor cap & rotor will probably have to be changed after being wet for so long. The alternator may be shot too, alts. dont take very well to water. Check the spark plug wires for signs of water damage (i.e. rust & corossion) as well as all those random wire harnesses around the engine. Other than that it should be good.

Re: Motor getting wet ???

Yea sorta figured some of that could be a issue..I know before the boneyard got the car it was garaged...But it has rained and snowed a couple times since sitting at the boneyard...

So im hoping it didnt do much or any damage but with my luck it did...

it started up fine and stayed running...It did die out 1 time tough so im hoping it was just from the battery being shot but i dont see that being the problem..

Thx later
