Question Quick tranny question for you guys

I got a quick question for you guys though I'm afraid it might cause some debate. I am thinking of converting my SL automatic to a manual tranny. I'm pretty confident in my mechanical ability and I have a friend who is very good with this sort of thing. I am just having a hard time deciding which tranny would be best i.e. reliablility, easier to find, etc. The 5 speed or 6 speed. I would love to hear you guys opinions on which would be better and about the swap itself. Thanks guys.

Highly disagree. The 6 speed is the turbo trans, expenive when found, very large and too highly geared for a NA. Get a 5 speed from a NA. The turbos tranny is not worth swapping to unless you are boosting.

Well I've been kicking the idea of a supercharger around for a while, and I might soon have the money to do it. Would it benefit me more to just wait and do the supercharger and 6 speed? Or would the 5 speed still be better with a supercharger?

I still wouldnt get the 6 speed. You need to make major power to even make use of the gearing.

Re: Quick tranny question for you guys

Oh, SL, got it. I assumed it was a VR4. I'd go with Stealthee in that case. I havn't heard of 6spd's going into NA's, and the 5spd transmissions do the job pretty damn well.

Re: Quick tranny question for you guys

There are a few FWD's with the 6 speed swapped in. They are all on a TT conversion though.
