Neutral Safety switch
I have a 69 chevelle that was converted from a Power glide on the column to a TH350 on the floor. The steering column was changed out as well to a floor shift steering column. I have owned the car a year and just recently discovered that the car could be started in reverse or drive, which lead me to the neutral safety switch. The switch is located on the steering column. Here is the problem. I did some research and came up with two different scenarios. One is that it's ok to have the column mounted switch since there is still linkage going from the transmission to the steering column with a floor shift and that "back linkage" will operate the neutral safety switch. The other scenario is that the neutral safety switch should be mounted to the horseshoe shifter with new wire harnesses. Anyone know which is correct?
