Cool Alignment Problems

Hi all, I'm a proud new owner of a 95 Maxima SE. I have a problem with the alignment and I don't know how to proceed. The car recently had a 4 wheel alignment by PEP boys and they say everything is in spec. However, the car drifts to the right when I'm not centering the steering wheel. The tires are new, and I've rotated them twice without rectifying the problem. When ever I let go of the steering wheel while the car is moving, the steering wheel will turn slightly to the right and the car will then drift. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. I'm thinking weak struts/springs on the right? Otherwise have no clue.

your left wheel has more air than the right. Let some out, or vice versa untill you get the same amount of air pressure in yout tires. Happens to me all the time...

Did you get a print out from PEP Boys with the specs your car is at? If so please post it or just post the specs. I need to know toe and camber readings. Then I will tell you how to correct your pull/drift.

Even though Pep Boys tells you that your car is "Within Specs" doesn't mean it's really correct. If you have camber readings that are on opposite ends of the spec limits on both sides, you WILL get a pull or drift to one side.

Example Right camber at close to zero and left camber at -.8 Your car is "Within Specs" but will pull or drift slightly to the right.

Technically there is no adjustment for camber on our cars. HOWEVER - loosening the lower strut mount bolts gives you some free play. Almost a full degree of camber adjustment.

Post your settings and I will tell you exactly how to set your cars camber even on both sides. It's very easy to do. After you fix your camber, have the toe set again and you'll be all set.

I wish more people had whats called common sense or knew what they were talking about before making comments.

Let me clearify for those who know nothing about suspsnions.

The lower strut bolts holds the cars hub in place, there is some free play in that assembly. By loosning the bolts you gain access to the free play needed to adjust camber.

Those with common sense will know to tighten them up after the adjustment is made. Others should never work on their own cars!
