Drivebelt replacement?

hi guys..

how are u?

well, l guess l need to replace my drivebelt.. it makes noise and l dont like it. my question is, how much would it cost me to replace my drivebelt?

if it is too much, l wont replace it and l heard about a product that stops that noise temprorarily. some kind of a spray. is that correct?

any answers would be appriciated.

thank you..

Re: Drivebelt replacement?

Not sure about the LT1 belt. But the belt itself is probably around $15.

If it is anything like the LS1...the belt change will take about 5 minutes.

Re: Drivebelt replacement?

Don't use the spray. The belt is cheap enough and even if you have to pay a mechanic, they should only charge you half an hour to replace it. Honestly, you could probably replace it yourself if you have any tools at all.

Re: Drivebelt replacement?

If a belt change is $50...that isn't bad at all. I would bet it is closer to $100 though.
Not sure how much work goes into the window motor...so I can't guess.

Re: Drivebelt replacement?

Changing a belt on a LT1 is super easy. I would just do it yourself and its like 13 bucks for a belt at autozone or advance auto. Then you just jack up or even better drive her up on ramps. Get a 13MM socket. Turn the belt tensioner clockwise slide the belt off the tensioner. Route the new belt like the old. Turn the tensioner clockwise again. Slide the belt onto the tensioner and release. Takes all of about 10 minutes.

Get a belt and do it yourself.

As far as the window motor...if he's willing to replace it for 100.00, have him do it. I really hated swapping mine out(or should I say get half way there only not to have tools to finish it)

Re: Drivebelt replacement?

any auto parts store will have the belt, and you have to losen the tensioner to get it off, that is why it is so tight.

I was not making a issue out of it, I just am aware since the New AF has been put into use there have been a couple strange issue's with the forum. Thats all. Yes you need to jack up the front or like I said ramps is the easiest way. There is a belt diagram on your radiator shroud cover showing where the tensioner pulley is and how to turn it to remove it but since your asked, its located right between your a/c compressor and crank pulley.
