96 GT brakes

Buddy has a '96 GT with the 5 speed. Back brakes are shot so we've spent the night trying to change the pads. Started with the driver's side.

I put a C-clamp on the piston to back it off, and a little bit of fluid comes out of the bleeder screw hole, but the piston won't move. This is the first time I've tried doing brakes on a Ford. On my Dodges the piston moves like nothing.

Guy on another forum was told that he was to turn the piston puck clockwise and it would back off, but that was on a '99. Is it the same thing on the '96 or do we have E-brake problems or what? Bad caliper?

Let me know.

Re: 96 GT brakes

Please tell me you did not force the pistons in with the C Clamp!!!! They do turn in and require a special tool to do so. Otherwise, you've damaged the brakes and will have to replace the calipers.
