A Sad Day In Kansas

Well i have decided its time to take the 79 bandit to my garage for a much needed restoration. starting tommorow im going to start taking everything apart and assesing the damage. probally drop a crate motor in there and convert it over to manual transmition. i plan on having her down to the frame by the end of the month and start sand blasting ... wallet permitting i plan on having her fully restored and back on the road by october.

Wich brings me to my point. does anyone have any hints or tips for full restorations? (i know theres its own section for restoration on af.com but i like yo uguys better)

I am not sure how this is a sad day....expect for the time the car is down.

It will be MUCH better when done!
I don't know about restoring a car...but good luck and make sure to keep us posted!

It won't be a restore if you swap the engine and tranny, but it will be a better car when it's done I suspect. Just out of curiosity, why are you doing this, the car does not seem to need a full rebuild from the pics. I would have told you to see about saving the decals if you had them, i have heard they are hard to find.

Why would you tear down that beauty? Is there something that the pics don't show that your not happy with? Just curious.
