Fuel Injection Conversion

I have a 79 Cube Dodge with a 360 and a Holly 4B. With the fuel cost I am thinking port injection might help. Has anyone done this and with what success?

Re: Fuel Injection Conversion

You will end up putting out $2000 - $3000 to do a conversion to port fuel injection.
You would probably be better to buy the Holley 4 barrel Throttle Body fuel injection. It fits directly on a 4-bbl manifold (square flange only) and allows you to tune it yourself and you can get the option of Oxygen Sensor and take advantage of "Closed Loop" mode.

Re: Fuel Injection Conversion

Thanks NEON_RT for the input. Is there a forum here that I could find comments on the Holley injection? I have been thinking about this for a will and just talked to a rockcrawler who said the holley throttle body injection was junk. I saw at summit, holley has a port injection system now $1400, but does not come with injectors. That would surely add up to $2000 fast.

Re: Fuel Injection Conversion

I've not done the conversion or known anyone personally that has.
Given Holley's reputation, I would think the the 4-bble TB injection was of good quality. Given the fact that it has to be tuned to work properly, there is a lot of room for Human misunderstanding and error. Carburetors are very complex because they need to be in order to deliver fuel properly. In the TB conversion, you have to use the given controls to emulate the carburetor and all of its calibrations. If you do not have a very good understanding of fuel systems, then I could see that you may never be able to make it work and label it as "JUNK".
