Ebay Intake

Hey what do u guys think of air intakes off of ebay i have heard mixed reactions to them some say they are fine if you put a K&N filter with it and others say AEM or nothing... i am somewheres in the middle while buying an air intake for like $50 seems good compared to 250 is there much difference and is the AEM worth an extra 200 also i am on a tight budget so let me know your thoughts ... Thanks

Re: Ebay Intake

dont go name brand...just get one and when the filter wears out, get a good one. I never saw the point of paying hundreds of dollars for a little tube and a filter....

Mainly because for one the computers are very stubborn and 2 there is no way of tunning the engine as of yet. hopefully that will change soon. But either way, i high recomend that you dont buy bolt ons, save a few more bucks and get a turbo kit, you will be much happier.

Yeah and the ebay ones usually don't fit correctly. That and they don't get rid of the box on the tb on the 2200. Most of them don't come with everything needed either.

Re: Ebay Intake

how f**kin hard is it to build a CAI?? Anyone have an answer?? I've done it to about 6 different cars for no real reason. If fitment is the ONLY difference, have you ever heard of tools? You can save yourself about $100 if you get the generic intake vs a name brand. You may have to invest a little bit of time and effort into it, but is your time worth $100/hr? I don't think so...and that's how i justify things when i build them......

Also i think -Jayson- was correct in that quote above....i don't think that bolt ons like I/H/E on a Cavalier are going to make substantial differences anyway. It will help, but there isn't going to be any noticeable difference in the performance quality of an eBay CAI or a name brand one....

Re: Ebay Intake

I'm going to agree with the -Jayson- quote on this one.

Who gives a shit on the brand, as long as it fits. They are basically the same metal, bent basically the same way (as long as it a mandrel bend) with different stickers on it. Woo, big deal.
