After over 2 months without my Xterra I will hopefully be getting it back this week. Some of you know of my unfortunate offroad mishap. I had dunked the front end in a mud hole. To make a long story short, I fried the alternator, starter and from what my local Nissan dealer tells me now, a main wiring harness. I fought with Nissan for awhile about the wiring harness and we ended up calling my insurance in on it. State Farm said they would cover all the repairs and put me back in rental for the time being. You won't catch me near any water again with my X .
I bought a KMA front bumper from a friend of mine and have been waiting to put it on. He sold me the bumper and 2 skip plates for $450. I felt that I got a decent deal on it, considering I didn't have to wait for it to be shipped. The bumper seems pretty stout. Has 2 shackles and a 2" reciever in it. I'll post some pics after I get it on. I'm just hoping that my truck will be done by Thursday because I'm leaving for PA that night.

With rocks you can plainly see your threats. In mud and water, you usually see your threats in the aftermath.

Well, I didn't get my X back last week. They installed a new wiring harness and that did not fix the problem. So now they are putting another engine in. I asked them if they even opened my engine up to see if that was the problem and they said no. I just can't understand how a dealer could hire such incompitant workers. I guess I can look at it this way, when I get my X back the engine will only have 6000 miles on it.

Um, I'd be seriously concerned about warranty issues on that engine. I knew a guy that had nuked his '99 Pathfinder engine and he was offered a choice between a brand new long block (with manifolds, accessories, etc. retained from his original engine) or a 3k mile used engine the dealer located from a yard, and the used engine had no warranty at all. He went with the long block and has full warranty on all internal components for the full 30k miles after install.

Finally got it back....
Picked up my X this past monday. Engine seems to be running fine. I did find out that my insurance company is giving me a 1 year warranty on the used engine. It has approx. 6k on it. I don't know if they serged the electrical system or what. When I got my truck back none of my offroad lights worked(6 total). Fuse was blown on my CB and the stereo died that same evening. The dealer has ordered me a new head unit and I've gotten my CB and 2 rear lights working. Haven't had a chance to mess with the fronts yet. I'm just glad to have my truck back. It only took them 3 months to fix the damn thing.........
