89 civic help
I just got a 89 civic hatchback pretty cheap. I need some power though. Its a 4spd so I wondered what I need to get to swap out the engine with a D16Z6. I want parts that I can get locally(i am not big on those high shipping rates) Most of the articles I seen are for the DX.

Its the same doing a dx, you still need to do the MPFI swap. Also your definelty gonna wanna get a 5 spd tranny, 4spd just aint gonna cut it

If your Civic has a 4spd then it is a base model. In order to get a 5spd in that car you will have to swap the hubs for a set off a DX or Si. Or better yet find an EX 4dr and get the hubs off that, they have bigger brakes.

yeah 88-91 although the 88 might be a little different from the others. I cant recall. the 92+ trannies wont work, theyre hydraulic, where as the 88-91s are cable

88 Trannys have a diff # of splines, so when you get a clutch it has to be for a 88 civic, not a 89-91
