Lancer vs. Mustang

Ok, I have a few questions here...I really don't want a comparison of these cars, since I know they aren't too much alike, but I do want to know if you could pick between a 01 or 02 Lancer or 01 or 02 Mustang, what would you go for?

A few things I was considering is:

1. I already have a few Stangs, but hey I love the car!

2. In a Lancer you can get A) Moonroof B) 4 doors = more people

3. Is a Lancer reliable? Who owns one, gimme a few insights please

Thanx for your time. :bandit:

What????

Do you mean an Evo 7 or a bog-standard Lancer.........????

Well even still both cars are very relaible and one is extremeley fast and a very able handler (You guess which one)

nonetheless if a bog-standard one is what you want, then I would suggest the VW Bora/Jetta 2.0 or V5 over the Lancer, basically because they out-show it in almost every respect........

Oh and can I have that 'Stang in your sig That is one AMAZING looking car:alien2:

That car in the picture should be more than enough stang for anyone ,
But the base lancer doesnt compare very well to other small sedans. I'd go with a sentra (test drive the SE-R Spec V), Jetta 1.8, or a Civic.

BTW, I dont think we get the bora or jetta V5...

well very simply it depends on how old you are... as you say, its very fashionable for kids to drive around in evo's and imprezas etc... nothing worse than an old(ish) man driving around in one of those, it looks very undistinguished, IMO. If youre not too bothered, or old , get an EVO7, the acceleration and grip are unreal

cheers,
jay

the lancer is amazing in terms of speed and handling. they hav the usual japanese reliability. i actually prefer the evo 6 to the 7 in looks.
i wud probably have the lancer because they have massive cred in europe, but i wouldnt really know how the 2 compare in the US market

btw i agree. s7v7n's mustang looks a beauty

I would take the EVO 7 (I agree the Evo6 looks so much better) over the regluar Mustang and over the GT...maybe over the Cobra (supercharged now) b/c of it's AWD capability and handling, the $30-35k price tag/value, and it's hertiage in rally.

Only Mustang's I like are the blown Saleen's.

But the regluar Lancer sucks donkey balls. Sorry 2 say.

Lancers aren't too bad, but not very fast.

If you want a 4 door that's really quick, test drive the Nissan SE-R. That thing is wicked fast!

Lancer 03'

The Lancer 03' would be my choice, since u already got a STANG... Get something different... Plus the 03' Lancer is pushing about 275 hp, 6spd. with a pretty damn good turbo set-up aswell..

I have a better answer: buy an LS1 trans am WS6, get an ARE 422cu, get all the bolt ons, get a massive cam, long tube headers with off road pipes, 4.10 gears (of course the 6 speed), then get a blower....

But i'd say get the lancer, if you already have mustangs, may as well try something different, right?

well a evo would mop the floor with a mustang. you compare 0-60 in 4.3 seconds on a evo 7 compared to the 0-60 in 5.6 seconds with a mustang GT. i wouldn't even consider a mustang unless its the new SVT cobra since its finally got fully independent suspension on all 4 corners!!! wow. and theres more of them for the masses. i know the first mustang to have fully independent suspension was the SVT cobra R's. but there are only like 600 of those around. but finally the U.S. gets the idea taht you can't live off a solid rear axle forever. and finally goes high tech which is what the japanese and the europeans have been using for decades. finally they wake up. but either way. like i said evo 7 out performs the GT and would make it look like its standing still. stock GT's hits low 14's to high 13's on the 1/4 mile. a stock evo 7 can hit 12.9 seconds. food for thought. and who are these people who keeps on underestimating the power of japanese cars? get the facts straight please.
