How to Clean TB N/T

Ok Guys first off you need to take off your stock intake or CAI.

Then remove the pipeing from the Vavle cover the the Intake Manni.

After doing this u need to take out your battery.
Didnt take a pic of this didnt think it was need'd
Then you proced to takeing off the throtle cable.

unhook the other end from here
When puting this back on make sure there is no slack in the cable,ALso make sure it is not to tight make sure the throtle plate stays closed!
Sit it aside and then unhook the IAC(idle air controle) and TPS(throttle possistion sensor) the 2 sensors on the back of the TB.

Then you pull the metal piece out of the sensor that right below the TB,the metal piece is attatched to the TB.

Then you proced to take off the 2 bolts that hold the TB to the Intake Manni. After doing this the TB should come off.
couldnt get a pic of thase i didnt wana take my intake back off there is one in the uper righthand side and the lower lefthand side
Ok heres the easy part, you take any kinda of carborator cleaner, or a cleaner of your choice. Spray it in the back of the tb and let it sit, after it drains out spray some more and repeat for about a minute. Then take a rag and whipe out what you can of it and spray some more as need'd. Then what u cant get off by just useing a rag i took a flat head screwdriver and placed the tip inside the rag and scraped everything else off. After doing this repeat to the other side of TB untill clean.

Hope this helps u guys out some.

Re: How to Clean TB N/T

you know you can clean the tb with it on the car. just take off the intake hold the throttle open and clean it out with carb cleaner. depending on how much crap you spray in there you will probably have to hold the gas wide open to get it to start. dont be worried when it coughs and sputters and barely starts. just get it started and then rev it a few times to clear the carb cleaner out.

Re: How to Clean TB N/T

You don't need to unbolt the throttle cable from the Manifold. Just open the TB flapper with your hand and unhook the cable from the lip. Little easier. Then you don't have the problem with trying to readjust the tension to get it right.

Also, you can use an old toothbrush to get everything off. Works great for those hard to reach areas.

And lastly, I would suggest taking off the IAC before doing it. Then you can soak the inside where the idle air is flowing, and clean that out. Best to take off any electrical things anytime when cleaning anything.

Re: How to Clean TB N/T

Yeah Boston I did, awhile back. It's all good. It's good for the newbies to learn. HAHA. Sorry xavier3jr. Its all good man.

You also forgot to say to make sure the gasket doesn't fall all the way down onto the tranny. And to make sure it's in good shape and not cracked. And to replace if need.

One thing else, (not to be a dick and take over), but its good to torque the bolts when reinstalling. I think i did like 20lbs. Then, spray some TB cleaner or brake cleaner around the gasket to see if it drys quickly when the car is on. This makes sure its air tight and will not cause bad idle. Just alittle tip.
