1999 Toyota Camry Air Filter
I want to change my air filter i my 4 cylinder toyota, there are so many different choices. Does it matter which one and if so How do I know which is the better one. I called to autozone, pep boys and places like that or should I call the Toyota dealer and get it from their parts place.
Thanks |

Re: 1999 Toyota Camry Air Filter
I would just go to whichever place is closest to you. Most aftermarket air filters state right on the box something like "Meets or exceeds all OEM requirements".

I like to use the factory filters. When I got the car(used) the filter media looked like folded notebook paper, the genuine filter has a triple layer gradation to trap progressively larger to smaller particles while retaining good air flow. If you hold the genuine filter next to an aftermarket filter the differences should be obvious. |

Re: 1999 Toyota Camry Air Filter
IMO, the high-quality (expensive) oil-whetted paper or foam from TRD, AMSOIL, etc, are the best filters on the market. They are washable and reusable so the cost is ok if you keep the car for a long time afterward.
Here is a filter comparison: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/airfilter/airtest1.htm Here is a link to some related discussion: http://www.autoanything.com/air-filters/50A7A117A1.aspx
