clutch choice

Im going to be needing a new clutch soon, and i figure i better do it when i pull my tranny/engine out to install the donor KA. Ive heard good things of ACT and exedy, but not all that great in the past about SPEC. So, i think i have found something that would be a good choice. I would like to go with the ACT "extreme" because it is supposably able to withstand more torque, and only costs a bit more. The problem im running into, is where to buy, and is if i should get the Extreme 6 puck, or the Extreme street/strip. They are close in price, but which would be better? And where is a good place to buy? Phase2motortrend has them for about 410-420, but ive never really bought a clutch so im not really sure if that is a deal or not? Im willing to fork over the money, im just not sure if that sounds like a good deal. Ill also be getting my flywheel resurfaced during the process. Thanks for reading the long post...

Dont get anything to extreme, its a real bitch driving in stop and go traffic lol
Id go with an exedy clutch, had it for 2 years and it still grabs hard

Re: clutch choice

i dont really have any stop go traffic. And when my KA-t setup is done id like to have the clutch already in and have to not worry about anything slipping.

Re: clutch choice

me and nissanfanatic is running the ACT heavy duty pressure plate with a street disc. the ratings they give them are really conservative considering that me and cory has went over the limit that they listed and some has gotten them to hold over 400whp. plus it as soft as stock and its great for stop go traffic and i've had mine for almost 2 years or 25K miles.

thats the one nissanfanatic, tat and i have.. i don't know who else but i'd put my confidence in that one.. its cheap too.. and just like tat said, its very underrated. watch nissanfanatic's daytime video again.. thats 12lbs of boost with this clutch. i didn't see/hear any slip..

Re: clutch choice

good question.. i'd assume that organic grips better and doesn't heat up as much..

Re: clutch choice

well the extreme is only 50$ more than that, is the only thing holding me back from the extreme is the feel on the pedal?

Re: clutch choice

the extreme would have a good amount more stiffer pedal and when you have a metallic disc it will have a very very narrow clutch grab point. almost to the point where its almost a on off switch. a organic clutch would have a marcel spring and a sprung hub to broaden its grab point. some ACT metalic clutches have a sprung hub but non of them have marcel springs and once it gets alittle hot from stop go traffic, it starts to chatter big time cause its trying to grab and your not letting it cause your tryin to engage the gear smoothly.

Re: clutch choice

I read mangas, got a couple when I visited my dad in osaka. Cartoon network sucks lol, they censor and cut out parts. It was kinda hard getting used to reading from left to right, up and down lol. Are you oriental? Im japanese and filipino
