clutch question

okay i can feel my clutch start the engage when i just barely lift the pedal off of the floor... but not enough to move the vehicle until i fully release the pedal... is this normal.... also my clutch has a tendency to squeak when i am releasing it... it is a new clutch as of nov. 2005 and also a new tranny might i add.... it is on a 98 s-10... any help??

squeak might be due to the fork needing a bit of lube at the contact points. as far as the clutch feeling weird, how far down do you have to push the clutch before it disengages? rule of thumb is about 1/2 from the top. if youre feeling the clutch RIGHT off the floor the flywheel might have been machined too much.

it disengages about a third of the way down...

er well by 1/2 from the top is when you should start feeling the clutch and it should disengage about 1/3 after that. im going to assume that youre disengaging about 1/3 into the pedal. might try bleeding it some more, those things can be boogers sometimes. but if that doesnt work and you dont have any other problems like hard shifting and whatnot you might express your concern to the shop that did the clutch.
