Topaz stereo

I have been trying to get the stock stereo out and I just can't figure it out. What do I have to do to get the stock stereo out, I am replacing with a cd/mp3 deck and XM satellite radio unit. I am kind of nervous installing the XM on my own.

Thanks

Re: Topaz stereo

OK I did a little google search, and it looks like you need a special tool to go into two small holes on the face. I got some hard wire and shoved it in the holes, it didnt work, you need something stronger, like an inner tube attachment for air hose. I only had one. Anyway I ripped it out with two screw drivers, took 5 minutes but its out, with a little plastic dash damage. Now its time to install wiring. No extra ford wiring harness, I just cut it off. On both car and stereo. Here is the wiring code if anyone needs it for future reference. It looks like the same as mine, but I have no idea what year my car is, but these stereos are common in many different cars.

First plug:
Battery / Memory Green/Yellow
Ignition/Accesory Yellow/Black
Ground Black/Green
Illumination Blue/Red (The illumination on the stock radio is a seperate wire)
The orange/black wire on this plug is a ground wire, also. But the Black/Green was larger.

Second plug:
Left Front + Orange/Green
Left Front - Blue/White
Left Rear + Pink/Green
Left Rear - Pink/Blue
Right Front + White/Green
Right Front - Green/Orange
Right Rear + Pink/Blue
Right Rear - Black/Pink
