2005 Grand Cherokee- How to et the error code ?

Hey everyone,
I just purchased a 2005 GC Limited 4.7. I am just wondering the way or method to get the error codes. I used to own a 2001 GC and the on off on off trick was working with me to find the codes thru the odometer.

I would appreciate any feedback. Regards
