Unhappy Tamiya 206 WRC kit...Has anyone else had this problem?

Ok, so I'm building my first 206 kit - all very nice but...I'm prepping the body for paint - sanded all seams but I'm having trouble removing one...runs from the hood across the wing to the outer corner of the wing where it meets the bumper, kinda runs diagonal just above the headlamp - drivers side. After using 800/1500 grits it looks fine but once the primer is on it is still visible - I tried brush painting some dark paint on it , then sanding to see if there is any low spots. Nothing. Coat with primer - still there! I tried putty and the 'indentation' is not deep enough to take it. I tried heavier coats of primer, still there More sanding with 800 grit, primer, still there I guess it sort of leaves a shadow??

I noticed on Marcus Nichols biuld of the kit in issue 84 of TMMI, this seam is visible on his model too ( if you have it check photo on front cover, just runs under Esso decal).

So - anyone else found this or have I lost the plot!?

Can't say I've had the same the problem on my three 206 builds. Sometimes laquer primer can etch into the different grain around a sanded down seam and make it reappear. Usually repeated coats of primer will fix the problem in my experience. I also find super glue is good for a quick filler of small indentations and seams. What kind of primer are you using?

Hopefully you can just make this out...the seam (really it's a faint shadow) is just above the headlamp 'hole'. Primer is automotive plastic primer - UK company called Halfords.

It's quite small.. if you can't send it, try fine putty and resend.

Hard to see but I can just make it out. I'd brush some more primer on there or wipe some superglue over it then sand back and prime again.

I'm guessing the Halfords is straight from a can? Might help explain the etching, since a spraycan tends to lay a thicker wetter coat with more solvents that can eat into the paint and plastic beneath. Using an airbrush allows you to lay down thinner, dryer coats that might help fill the seam without it ghosting like that.

Thanks Phil - I'm just in the throws of trying the superglue route, hopefully this'll work. I'll post some pics later.
