94 Plymouth Voyager Electrical Problem

We have a 94 Plymouth Voyager with an electrical malfunction. We had been driving about half the day and everything was fine. We were on our way to our final stop for the day. About 3/4 of the way there the check engine light came on, A few minutes later the check gages and the battery light came on. It was after dark and we were running the lights, hitailed it home some 25 miles away. Got almost home and the lights went dim, Then came the sputtering, Not enough juice in the battery to run fuel pump. Sat there about 15 minutes and it fired right up got almost home and it died again. Next day we thought it was the alternator so we got another and the pulleys were differant. Took the old one to autozone to have it tested and it tested good. Decided to put it back in thinking it might be a fusable link or the voltage regulator. Checked all the fusable link's and they all checked out good. Now radio/cd player won't play half the time or if it does just for a short period of time. the door locks are acting up. Won't lock with the door open and the key in the ignition, (Thats a good thing though) But they used to whether the key was in or not. Now and then the check engine light comes on but if I shut off the engine and start it back up it goes out. Am really affraid to drive any long distance with it acting that way, Especiallywith 3 kiddos in the van and it being cold out. All the lights and other electrical items work fine. Does anyone have any clue as to what the problem might be ?

Well I think the problem has been fixed. I changed the alternator and found no differance. I tried to start it one day and the battery cables sparked and smoked. the hot had already been changed and the ground was the original factory cable end. I changed that and it started fine and has been running and starting fine ever since. I still find myself looking at the guages and waiting for the check engine light to come on but have been lucky for a week now. Keeping my fingers crossed. LOL. Sure makes me feel like a dummy. Oh well Hopefully problem fixed

Have the battery "load tested". Remove all ends of all the battery cables and clean them well and re-install snugly and see what happens.
Have someone pull error codes off the computer.
