Worth Fixing?

I know very little about cars, especially about how much they're worth.

I have a 93 Honda Accord LX 4 door sedan with about 150,000 mi. that probably needs about $600 of work to sell.

My question is, is it worth fixing to sell?

KBB lists a private party value of about $2000 for this vehicle in fair shape, and cars.com & autotrader.com both have the same vehicles in similar shape listed and priced above kbb values (but they're not sold yet).

On the other hand my mechanic is telling me any vehicle over 10 years old is almost worthless.

Who's right? What's the realistic value? Is it worth fixing a couple of things to sell, or do I just junk it?

Re: Worth Fixing?

If KBB says 2G, youll get about 1 for it. If you think its about 600 to fix, its atleast 800. Just junk it and get the 100 bucks.

Re: Worth Fixing?

in perfect operating condition that car is worth maybe $1500. You can probably get $250 right now for it as long as the body is straight.

Re: Worth Fixing?

what is the problem with it?

if the car is driveable, id say sell it private party. for $1500, someone will probably buy it from you then, considering that the car will last another couple of years. sell it as-is

Re: Worth Fixing?

I usually figure I can't sell it for much unless I fix it. Then after it's fixed I figure I might as well keep it!
