95 Cutlass Trunk release wont stop releasing!

I'm starting to think a gremlin has taken up residence in my car. Last week we had the dome/floor lights problem where they wouldnt shut off and managed to kill the battery. My husband removed all the bulbs But now the trunk release is releasing about every 5 seconds. I have no idea where to even start on this.

Do you have a remote start or alarm with a trunk "pop" feature? If yes, is it factory or aftermarket?

No, The only thing it has is 2 remotes for the locks and truck. My first thought was something was pushing against the buttons in our coats, but thats not it.

Sometimes the computer for the remote trunk release mechanism malfunctions and completes the circuit continuously - I had the same problem, so I just disconnected the wires for my remote trunk pop and just use the button inside the car - but my remote is aftermarket. I'm not sure about the wiring for the factory trunk release.

It does sound like though, that the "brain" for your trunk release has defected.

Thanks! My husband went in and disconnected the cylinoid at the lock so we can just use our key. I'm sure with the way the car is acting, I'll be back for more help in the future!
