Post darn ice

So I was going around a curvy road tonight on my way home. It was starting to get cold. I saw the road looked wet so I slowed down did 15 or so. All of a sudden car drifts over a bump in the road and slams into a pole at about 20mph or so sideways.

Totaled the bumper, passenger side fender, hood, passenger tire popped off the rim.

:/ fucking ice. Although it was quite fun watching the tow truck come and try to tow my car. He almost slid into it. My dad and I couldn't even walk on the road to get my stuff from the car we slid across it like we were ice skating.

Had snow tires too. My dads 4wd truck with studded snows was slipping also in 4 wheel low. Kinda a shitty condition and the state wasn't even on the way to salt tonight at all :/

Oh well I have insurance. And the bright side is there were stone chips in the hood. I guess thats one way to get them fixed.

Re: damn ice

I'm right there with you man. ETA on my car is another 3 weeks at best. They declared mine totalled and I just had some front fender damage and rear quaterpanel damage. Best of luck. Glad to hear you are ok.

Re: damn ice

You should go beat it with a hammer a bit, like around the control arms and fuck up the suspension. That should get it totalled. And then you can get a gsx

Re: damn ice

It's good to know you really hope im alright (I think the forums double posted you a bit again )

But yeah I'm glad im okay... I don't want htem to total it really. Because it was a good engine, no leaks (engine or top). I'd never give up the convertible even for a gsx...

I actually have most of a turbo kit sitting right here next to me. It was getting turbo'ed this summer. I scoured ebay. In parts so far im up to 850 dollars. I have 300 more on the way eventually and then I should have everything I need. I scored a SAFC dirt cheap someone spelled it wrong, got a pocket logger also spelled wrong cheap and most recently a short shifter where someone left out the word short in the bay ad.

So if it doesn't get totaled I have a 2.4l turbo.. if it does I guess I go for spyder gst and get a 2.0l turbo..

I had to go and pull off my front bumper undercar light today incase they total the front..

Re: damn ice

pics at www.novaslp.net/pics/v/random/car/slide/ or through sig link

See the thing is it's all body work really. It didn't mess with the steering or anything. No airbag deployment. The tire is off the rim thats about it. Fuse box needs to be replaced . No other internal damage.

Headlight is busted (fog is okay), that side panel and hood are messed up thats about it. (front bumper a bit too)

In the second picture there you can see it pushed back into the drivers side door but didn't move it. A spacing still exists there although it's really small. I don't think I could open it however. I havn't tried. Don't want to do any more damage till insurance company checks it out.

The light on the front is def gone though.

I doubt there is any frame damage but I could be wrong...
