1995 Grand Am 2.3 Quad 4 WONT START

AAARRRGGGHHH!!!! 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 2.3L Quad 4. Will not start, just died one day and that was it....

I replaced the coil Pack, Plugs, fuel pump. Map sensor, and tried a different ECU... Heck, I even tried the Soda-Pop bottle trick with a vacumme line into the intake for Raw fuel delivery. No change....

I have a nice hot spark, 140#-150# compression between all 4 cyls. and the dang thing still wont start. I'll get a single "Pop" every now and then but it wont run at all...

Any other Ideas before I spend a lot of cash at the dealership ?

Try spraying starting fluid into the throttle body while cranking the engine. If it starts then you have a fuel issue. If it does not start then the problem is with the ignition or timing. If it is a fuel issue check the fuel pressure. If there is no fuel pressure then it is probably the fuel pump. If there is fuel pressure then check the injector wiring.

If all that proves good and you find it is an ignition problem then I would check the timing and the ignition module. Even though you have spark it may not be getting where it needs to be at the right time. Also check the timing to see if it is correct. This can throw everything off and will prevent it from starting.

n my opinion, used parts won't solve the problem either because they will just fail like the new part that I put on. There are literally thousands of posts on the internet of people with these same ignition lock cylinder problems. The N-body cars seem to be the leaders.(Malibu, Alero, Grand-Am) Yeah, I can see where this might seem a bit involved.... but it's really not. I just wanted to follow up with evidence of how it works. The quick simple fix is just to cut the yellow wire and tape up both ends. I took a screwdriver to pop the cover from around the stereo and took out 4 screws. Then, pulled out the stereo. The 3 wires from the ignition are right there on the left. Start the car and cut the yellow wire. That's it. You won't have to replace the ignition lock cylinder until it falls apart. I don't have to worry about my wife and kids being stuck somewhere. I certainly didn't mean for it to come across as being complicated at all. Enevitably, someone will ask why this works.
