95 K1500 dies and hard to start

We have a 95 chevy k1500 and it will die intermitedly and won't start for a few minuts even with a full tank. We replaced fuel pump, filter, fuel pump relay, and computer. Battery connections are good as well are all the fuses.. When you try to start it after it dies, it acts like it is out of gas. It seems that something is either turning off the fuel relay, fuel pressure regulater gone haywire or some short in the ignition. Any help would be great.

Pull the ignition module and have it tested at a part store.

When the no start is occuring can you see fuel being sprayed from the fuel injectors? Are you geting any spark when this happens, these are easy to check and could help narrow it down.

Also what engine and engine code mileage ? How is tune up and fuel filter and fuel pressure?
Like Crasen says check for spark. And make sure it is good and hot and blue at spark plugs.

Re: 95 K1500 dies and hard to start

I have a 95 1500 4.3 and had similair problems. I replaced ecm, fuel pump, pump relay, ignition module nothing would work. My truck just decided when and when not it would start. Imagine this, an Auto zone employee?... told me to check the ignition switch in the steering column. 154.95 for the ignition switch and my truck is as reliable as is strong. You might check yours. The chiltons manuel will have a diagram for the switch. Check to see if any terminals look burnt. My 12v looked a little corroded. The contact for ignition and fuel originate here. Are your dash lights coming on when the key is turned forward? Check your switch before buying it, 154.95 and they will not return it since it is an electrical component. The switch is attached to the key tumbler on the steering column. fairly easy to get out, good luck

Re: 95 K1500 dies and hard to start

we had one in our shop similar to that. It had been to a couple of dealerships, and they hadn't been able to fix it. I believe we replaced the distributor pickup. the easy way to test it was the fact that you could prime the engine with gas, it would start and run, but without the gas, it wouldn't start.

Mine would start while being primed, it would die after the prime. Without a prime it would only start intermittently.
