Bridesmaids gowns...

Okay, so my friend's wedding isn't coming up for about 2-maybe 3 years, but she is desperate for me to get a head start on looking at styles for bridesmaids gowns. And as Maid of Honor I am glad to oblige... but does any one have any suggestions???

Suggestions for theme? Color suggestions? I have no idea what to do here...

For my bridesmaids, I chose something very simple, yet elegant. They were ankle length straight sleevleess dresses with heartshape neckline in a deep burgundy colour. I went with that style so that they could use them again in a formal situation if they wanted to. I didn’t want to go with anything impractical that they wouldn’t be able to wear ever again.

They were similar in style to this, but with a plain back.

Yeah, that's definately the best type to get...simple and elegant, and re-wearable!

I was a maid of honour at my best friend's wedding, and we had dresses very similar to the ones Spec2 Girl put up, except they weren't so fitted around the hips, they kinda flowed down more "a-line" style. They were a deep blue colour.

The hardest part is getting all the bridesmaids to agree! I found those dresses, and the bridesmaid's seemed happy at the time....we asked them for their opinion and they said they liked them....then i find out out AFTER the wedding that one of the girls decided to have a bitch-fest about how "she didn't really get much say in the dresses".

I should have been a real cow and said "well i chose them because they are flattering for larger sizes" (she was about 2 sizes bigger than me LOL)

Well luckily as Maid of Honor I've got my work cut out for me.

The bride's younger sister is one of the other bridesmaids, and the third bridesmaid is a friend of the bride from school whom I've met. All three of us are pretty much built the same way, so finding something to fit different shapes isn't a factor. She's planning on a summery wedding, so sleeveless is the way to go. I've also pretty much settled upon an A-line skirt as it is the most versatile, so we can use the dresses again.

Thanks for your help! I'll try to keep this up to date as things move along.
