cavalier CIA confusion about MAF sensor and whatnot

OK, im learning alot, being a noob about my car, but now its come time that I install a CAI to replace my stock airbox. I have seen some people say that they had to take out the MAF sensor that is attached to the throttle valve area. This confuses me, because on my 98 cavalier, the MAF sensor i believe is attached to the stock intake hose, it clips on to it there. Or could this be the IAF or whatever? Now what I am assuming is when I get my CAI kit, i would need to take out the stock intake hose and plastic container with the 2200sfi logo on it, and take out the MAF sensor that is supposedly attached to the throttle body or something. then i would attach the CAI tube directly onto the tb, and then attach the MAF sensor to the MAF adapter that is included in the CAI kit. After that i would simply extend the pipe to wherever i want it to go, and then attach teh filter at the end of the pipe. (and of course attach the hoses to the breather hole of the engine, and i dont kno where the 2nd hose goes, since there are 2 holes on the top of the CAI tube) Is this correct? I have also seen others have this setup, but then attached their IAF or whatever wire near where the filter was. Is this necessary and if so, how would I build an area for the IAF to fit on or into the CAI piping? This is kinda confusing me, but the more you guys help me out the less time i can spend being a noob about this stuff. Many thanks in advance!

Re: cavalier CIA confusion about MAF sensor and whatnot

Step A: Rip out all stock intake crap.

Step B: Install new intake crap.

Step C: Plug IAT sensor into slot on new intake crap piping.

Optional step C-1: If new intake crap does not come with a spot for the IAT sensor and the rubber grommet that held it in place tap/drill a spot around the midway point of new intake piping.

It depends on the design of the CAI that you are installing on your car. A lot of intakes come with a MAF adaptor in the pipe. When you install the intake on your car you unscrew the stock MAF sensor from the stock intake tubing and then install it on the CAI pipe in the allotted location (the MAF adaptor). The CAI should come with instructions showing you what to do. The same process goes for any other sensors located in the stock intake, like an IAT sensor. The CAI pipe should have a grommet for you to insert the IAT sensor.

Uh oops... I meant to make the above post in my name but apparently someone else had logged into my laptop before me. I should check the name logged in before I post...
