Heater Fan delayed operation

I recently purchased a 1992 Diamante. The heater fan will not operate until after about 10 minutes of driving. After that it operates perfectly in both the manual and the automatic mode. Unfortunately this does not allow me to defrost the windshield until the fan comes on. There should be some kind of manual mode to the system when I first start the car. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Is there a bad relay in the heating/ac system?

Diamantes have been known for having electrical problems after a certain amount of time, I used to have a 92, though mine never gave me problems with it i was told that other have had them. just get your a/c system looked at to make sure its nothing major. Sounds to me like maybe a wire might be burning out.
