Engine won't start and the horn blasts

The engine DID start for about a minute and then died then I couldn't start it again but i heard the starter itself trying, then I went inside to warm up and the horn starts blasting so I came outside like a bat outta hell to detach the battery.

I just got done with my own mod of rewiring the fan wires(aftermarket rad. w/ dual fans) and I replaced the fan relays(2). I traced the wires back to where they went; I really think I did a good job. I hadn't started the engine since the other battery went(replaced the battery also).

What are the reasons the engine won't start and/or the horn blasted?

First off, what year camaro are you talking about?
If the starter turns over, then it would be a fuel delivery issue, probably electricle since you just finished working on that...Check the fuel pump relay, if this is an 80s camaro, its probably next to the fan relay(engine compartment, right infront of driver, mounted on firewall.)
Pull off the steering wheele cap and check the metal strips to see if they are bent. Also check the wires to the horns themselves (front drivers side in fender well, accessable from trunk)
Again these answers are for a 3rd gen.(without air bags) if this isnt helpful, please tell us the year and package(RS, Z28, IROC, SS) of your camaro

Then those things I mentioned above should hold true for your camaro...
I need to set my signiture too
I think the fuel pump relay is right next to your fan relay so you may have left it disconnected or something and if the horn problem isnt in the steering wheel itself, and you are in a hurry, then you can disconnect them...I think they are both on the drivers-side and mounted close together, you should be able to access them from the engine compartment...two wires each...Green mabe?

I'll check those green wires you mentioned in a sec, but it couldn't be that I left anything undone over there because I was working on the distributor terminal, which is on the passenger's side, on the firewall. Brb

I think the horns have their own fuse, you could just disconnect it.
Did you do the radiator fans or the heater fans?

Did you disconnect either of the bats on the HEI distributer?
Also, I think the second oilpressure sensor kills the fuel pump if it thinks the oil pressure is too low, Could that be it?

I'll have to look at it again tomorrow, I found three green wires, one yellow and one green(1+1) and then some others with 3 more wires (2 x 4).

Then I found something really interesting, I pulled the steering wheel apart and found that two wires were missing, only one yellow one but there were two more holes for three altogether, strange.

Is your horn button the rectangle or the circle?
In the rectangular one, the second wire is hidden with the spring(I think).
Does your camaro have two horns or one?

It's an IROC-Z with the circle horn and the camaro insignia(tricolor)

Id say to pull the fuse for the horn until someone who is more familiar with that horn set-up gives their input.

You are in luck...my uncle was over for dinner, infact I just heard his car start and drive off. He worked at GM until late 88 and he was an AC and Electricle tech. I ran out before he left and asked him about your horn and he said to pop off the round cap and there should be a gray? tube with a wire comeing out of the middle of it...push that metal tube down and turn it a little, it should pop up and the horn should cease.
He said that if that doesnt stop it then you have a short somewhere, he said that the horn is wired through the turn signal lever, but I dont know about that, in that respect he may be thinking about a different car or something but I dont see how that could be the case.

Well you win the nobel prize for eing helpful because you and him just helped me realize the car does need more wiring work. One of the turn signals hasn't worked and I think this is very related. I'm gonna have to test a lot of things out tomorrow lol

Well then it couldnt hert to change the turn signal lever since you know its bad anyway...It isnt hard to do, but it is time-consuming and you need to know what you are doing. You will need a wheele puller, for starters. Then you need to get past the stereing whele lock...will be a pain. If you have a haynes manual, that tells you how to get past the lock.
Be shure you test the thing with the tube first so you know if the problem with the horn is a short further down or right at the top before you start taking the thing apart.
Be aware that another place to look for the short is where the column tilts, that can put a lot of stress on the wires that run through it.
Im glad I could help you relize that you have more electricle to do
Take brakes when working on electricle, other wise you can go insane after a while. I know I do

WHAT? NO! not the lever itself, the light doesn't work, one does and the other doesn't; i'm sure the lever is fine. Anyway it's late and I'll have to look at it first thing in the...depends on when I wake up, but I won't be drinking. bragging rights, I TURNED TWENTY ONE THIS MONTH!!!!! had to do it
