2000 GS Power Window/Wiper slowdown
Hi,
This has been happening for a while now. When it's cold outside [not that cold, maybe -10C?] and I'm driving a bit in rush hour, my wipers and power windows start moving very slowly. It's as if I have no battery left. The battery itself is brand-new and was tested to make sure there's no bad cells etc. Once I start driving though, it gets better. I do have heating on at the same time (front and rear windshield). I've tried both medium heat and full heat on level "2". CD Player is on at the same time. Also tried turning that off for a bit but not too long. Am I running too many things and putting too much strain on my battery? Thanks~ |

Re: 2000 GS Power Window/Wiper slowdown
your battery should be able to handle that many things at once, that might be a sign of an alternator going bad
have a shop check the charging system and the components

Re: 2000 GS Power Window/Wiper slowdown
yea i had a mechanic check it out and he also says it's the alternator. But he said that there's no need to change it now. Like the problem will still be there but said to change it when my car starts complaining about it (a light comes up complaining about the alternator).
I'm not sure if this is a good idea. Should I wait to get it fixed because it's just a bit annoying. It's not really preventing my car from starting up yet or from pulling down the windows etc. also, do 97 integra parts fit 2000 ones? |

you'll need to change it sooner or later, might as well do it now. yes, a 97 alt will fit a 00

Re: 2000 GS Power Window/Wiper slowdown
well i had a problem with my brakes taking in air so I wanted to fix that first and then worry about the alternator later. As long as there's no damage possible by delaying this, I might just put it off for a month or so.

Re: 2000 GS Power Window/Wiper slowdown
i went to another mechanic about the same problem. The battery is charging at approx 14.2-14.3V so the alternator seems to be fine (this is with everything running). I've been told it could be the electrical wires freezing??? or the window track being bad and needing replacement.
Any comments? I don't want to replace the alternator and find out that it was fine heh. |

Re: 2000 GS Power Window/Wiper slowdown
you might just need to lube up the tracks on the window regulator and maybe see if you can to the lube points on the windshield wipers
it could just be slow due to lack of lubrication or maybe just the motors going bad

Re: 2000 GS Power Window/Wiper slowdown
i'm not sure about unloaded
what I have noticed is that the window gets slower in the middle so it could just be a problem in the track. Thanks I'll have a look at it~ |
