a newbie to mx-6 have some ?'s

i was passing by a dealer ship and saw the sharpest mx-6 ive ever seen. its a 1993 the 2.5L 5spd, and has only 83,000 on it. the guy wants $4000. is it a good price or bad? also is there any notorious problems with the mx-6? im coming from dsm's and the notorious hassles of them and dont want to get another car that is gonna have issue after issue.

Not sure if that $4K is USD or CAD but either way a little high imo.
A couple of issues with early 2G 6's is the faulty disty and ceasing rear caliper(s).... Happened to me..and many others (www.mx6.com)
If these items have been repaired/replaced..thats a bonus..
Overall tho, I think they're a pretty reliable car...
I love my '94.

I've got 214K miles on my PGT and my calipers never seized. They need attention just like any other part. Flushing the brake fluid every year and lubing the pins, every now and then keeps them like new! Disty,,,,?PT/MX-6.com members have found a cheaper solution for it ($15 for an Hei external coil).

MX6s go a little higher on price vs PGT (brother) just because of its badge. Bought my probe for $2700 back in 2000 with 95k miles while a similar mx6 would go for around $4k-4500.
I'd say stay away from this car otherwise you will get addicted and spend all of your money on it. They are sexy cars tho! Eventhough i've had 5 PGTs, i want to add an MX6 on the list.

Too much for that old a 6, regardless of mileage. Ask what's been done to it and ask for invoices/receipts of work done. Tell em you'll give em $2750-3k for it, depending on what it needs. When you open the hood, pull a spark plug boot off a plug and see if there's oil on it. If so, it's prolly been neglected and could need alot of maintenance work done. Cool lookin' car though, I got mine w/95k miles for $2k 4 yrs ago.

to much money, there are 2nd gen with a lot of aftermarket stuff on them going for 3-4k around here. it is a dealer, they are going to getg as much money as possible. I am a little crazy when it comes to mx6, I have owned a lot of them, and cant get enough. check out mx6.com and got he 2nd gen section read around.

Re: a newbie to mx-6 have some ?'s

pulling a spark plug wire and seeing oil wont tell you much for these cars seeings how the vc gaskets are always going out no matter how well you take care of the car i replaced mine bout 2 months ago and there already leaking 4000 is a lil spendy but if all the maintnance records are there and its clean and straight no funny noises i would jump on it youll get a better deal with cash but if you finance expect to pay near full price
