why did i lose

tonite i was shocked!

i raced my 1991 nissan 300zx twin turbo against a ford mustang mach 1...

i lost by like 2 and a half car lengths.

his car was complety stock besides a intake and flowmasters. and on my car i have the stillen high flow intake, borla exhaust, and the stillen ecu and hks bovs, his the mustang was stick shift and my z is automatic,,,,

should i of lost this race? what could be wrong?

^that depends on alot of factors man... also was it from a roll or a stop??? if from a stop, he had you at the launch, but if it was from a roll, you had the race in your favor...

he wouldnt go with me from a roll..we where going from dead stop

Hold your foot on the brake pedal fairly hard, and if you can rev up the RPMs to like 1500 or 2000 or so do that... than when the light turns green, kinda feather off the break and slam down on the gas... thats how I do it in my minivan, but I don't really rev up that far... I guess you could also pull the parking break and rev up and when it turns green, push the break down, while giving it gas at the same time, and when the break is fully disengaged, slam that gas pedal mang! You could use the 1-2-3-4 gear things if you want, (like those were the gears in a stick shift, shifting at around redline) but I think the z's ATX's strong point is fast shifts, so I wouldn't use them...

Go out and practice that stuff and see what works best for you

Stillen ECU? does it have boost jets or a boost controller?

if it has boost jets...you should have destroyed him.

even if not, you should work on getting your car running up to snuff. i remember your car being a little under the weather when purchased. plugs, filters, vacuum check, boost leak check, etc.

stupid questions, but if i have a boost leak would i be able to hear the bovs as loud as i do?
what is a full list of things i should check out/change for a full tune up

When you say a Mach 1 do you mean a true Mach 1 that listed HP well under the advirtised catalog listing(for insurance purposes) or the new Mach 1 at 300 HP which I have driven and believe has done again (listed less HP than it actully has thinking more like 350+ HP)

yea it was a true mach 1 mustang, so your saying that car really has like 350 horses?

it was like a 03 mach 1 and it had the working hood scoop, somebody told me they run with the cobras

If it's a small one it's possible, but you could've had a boost leak from the begining so they would've been the same volume since you get em'. Also, IDK when the last time the timing belt, plugs, and wires, etc... were changed, but if you don't know either than it may be a good idea to do so. I mean if you're running on say 4 cylinders that would be a pretty big problem, so get that checked out mang

Also unless you talked - How do you know he or she might not be hiding something like chip upgrade, NOS, so on - Just wondering - Also if you are manuel and he is auto , he in know way should beat you off the line from 0-45 mph unless something went wrong with the Z. I drove one and I know they are fast but I think my z31 on bottom end 0-35 to 40 mph can take them with a N/A. Something went wrong

i am auto and he is stick..... and i talked to him after and before the race and it didnt seem like he had any special...

but i definetly think my car needs a tune up, can some one send me a full list of things i should change and check....thanks
