Trans Axle/Transmission Slippage?
hello have a 2002 taurus ses with about 34000 miles on it. 2 months ago got a transmission fluid flush around 30000 miles i follow the maintenance book. just got an oil change today and in the past week and a half when the speedometer get to 45 miles per hour theres a lot of vibration, hesitation to accelerate and the tachometer flies up to 3000 then back down to 2000. at the mechanics today they told me a half shaft is broke, or leaking. and that the transmission fluid smelt very bad, burnt. they drove it and felt transmission slippage also. whats a transaxle? how does that go hand in hand with the transmission? which company would be responsible for any damage to my car? place i got the transmission flush 2 months ago?

Re: Trans Axle/Transmission Slippage?
its probably the vehicle speed sensor, your mechanics are trying to take advantage of you. Go somewhere else and have them replace the vehicle speed sensor.

Re: Trans Axle/Transmission Slippage?
no take it somehwere else for a second opinion. it sounds like someone put the wrong fluid in your trans. it requires mercon V fluid. ask the guys who did it what fluid they put in. if they dont say mercon V i would give em hell until they put the right fluid in there.
